2 years ago today a man I had connected with on a dating app @rayatheapp met me at a movie theater. He talked through most of it and was loud... but funny. After the movie I said “I have a set to go do, you can come or I can meet you for a drink after but, if this works out, you’re gonna have to see the act at some point.” He came. When offered a free drink to have during my show he declined and said “I’ll wait for you.” We went to several bars and, several hours later after we realized we had several things in common at around 3am, I said “you can sleep over, I won’t have sex with you but we can make out a little and we can walk my dog.” We fell asleep fully clothed and right as we did he said “where have you been?” I don’t remember my answer because, for the first time in a long time, what someone else said stuck with me more than my (I’m sure clever) answer. The next morning he asked if I wanted to have dinner that night. As of today, we have been on that first date for 2 years (but married for only 2 months) People love to think that because a man is supportive, holds Blanche, comes to shows or let’s me be the center of attention and that I must be some sort of monster ball breaker. The truth is? It takes a very strong and very secure man to support a strong woman. He makes my life easier by allowing me to live my life, pursue my dreams, attend when he can and never inhibit any of it. By bringing his own intelligence, light and perspective it helps me be a better person. I so respect his work, his time and his morals that the fact that someone as sturdy as him wants to be part of my life is so special. He has attended every major event, loved me when I thought I could face the world alone, held my hand when I was being a grump and continues to be an absolute force of strength and good (and food) in my life. I love you #smokyhusky Also... #bde
