Frida’s birthday yesterday, happy belated to a queen ? the above is from her diary ? quite interested in whatever her madness was, in her sadness, in her pain, what it meant for her to have a failing body, interested in how being ill in whatever way you are (physically or mentally) makes you somewhat of a radical force, having a body or mind that attacks itself and going on in this world despite it or with it can be viewed as somewhat of a radical weaponization of your being that could be respected rather than ostracized or othered ? She never really rejected her own madness, instead viewed it as somewhat of an infinite unruled grounds for new work, for new, more radical ideas ? “I could do whatever I liked under the curtain of ‘madness’!” ???
