Muriel Sarkany has been one of my favorite climbers since I started back in 1995. I’ve always enjoyed her low-key persona coupled with an intense dedication to finish her project. After Muriel’s successful competition years she decided to transfer to the cliff. I love how she’s had more success with time, experience and age, as she became the 3rd (or 4th?) woman to climb 9a with her ascent of Punt X in the Gorge Du Loup, FR. I know this route, many of my friends know this route and it’s thwarted all of us. Punt X has given local-strong-boys the run-around and is often referred to as hard for the grade if not 9a+. Anyway, I’m just celebrating another amazing climber I find inspiring. We all have a few folks that uplift our motivation or give us a reason to be better people.
