Ocean pollution is now one of the biggest problems our planet is facing and it’s continuing to make waves. News reports showing a whale washed up on a beach with a stomach full of plastic bags drew the world’s attention on the horrific impact of our excessive use of plastic. On one of our dive trips, my friends and I witnessed first hand how a plastic bag here or there transitions into a tide of trash. Our oceans are so deep we don’t even know the true scale of the marine pollution taking place right underneath our noses. We all have a part to play in cleaning up the mess we made. It takes little effort to bring your own recyclable bags to the store or question whether that extra set of plastic cutleries are really necessary. So let’s all make a conscious decision, because if we don't act now, it will be impossible to stem the tide of plastic pollution.
