SENIOR SUNDAY! @susiesseniordogs has a rock’n’roll fairy tale ending to share with us. "I’m writing to tell you about Elvis, a 12 year old pug whom I adopted last year. I was contemplating getting a second dog for a while and had always jokingly said I wanted a black senior pug, who got along with dogs and cats since I had 1 dog and 2 cats, then one day I was browsing Facebook and I saw a post a friend had shared. This goofy looking black old pug with a grey face was surrendered to @caarescue after his owner went to a nursing home and no one in her family could keep him. I immediately fell in love and couldn’t send an application fast enough! I was approved, had a visit to make sure he and my dog Pepe got along and he came home soon after! It was a rocky start, he surely missed his former owner and my dog wasn’t too pleased to share the attention. He had to have all his teeth removed; which gives him a silly face with his tongue always hanging from the side. Elvis also has food and season allergies; which are now under control. There are no words to describe his spirit, this guy is just pure happiness and he cracks me up every day. I cannot imagine my house without him… he follows me around everywhere, he has no sense of private space, always sleeping on top of me or leaning against the cats, he loves to walk and spend time in the backyard soaking up in the sun, he greets every person and animal he meets with a tail wag. He has spunk for his age, he loves to play tug and to run around the house. He gets *REALLY* excited around feed time and is always looking for leftovers and crumbs I might drop on the floor. Adopting him was the best decision I’ve made. It’s sad that there is still this misconception that older dogs don’t bond or they’re a lot more work and this could not be further from the truth. Elvis fit right in and he’s just a lovely toothless, grey muzzle, goofy loving pug who farts really loud and jumps in the bathtub when I’m showering. I absolutely love this boy. xoxo, Maira"
