Organizations that are clearly asking for what they need, phone numbers to these organizations and your representatives, one case amongst thousands...being aware is not helping- helping is helping.
This policy sadly existed under Bush and Obama- thank god it wasn’t used as we are seeing now- 1000s of families ripped apart.
There are certain border patrol checkpoints that are designated for asylum entry points- how are people supposed to enter those checkpoints if they have been shutdown- bc they have-look up Reuters-Bloomberg- middle of the road news outlets for the accurate information in this post- not me. They are not legally able to seek asylum.
This is not summer camp. This is not a negotiation tactic. This is not politicizing anything- children should not be taken away from their parents and now there are people being deported. They are being told by ICE that they are not currently able to locate their children before being deported- this is AFTER weeks of being separated.
I don’t care if “they have broken the law” or not - they don’t have the entry points to even legally try and seek asylum and then we not only take away their child- we keep him or her as they go back to their country. How can anyone agree with that- anyone??? Thousands of lost children- and no automated or otherwise system put in place by the government to fix this atrocity.
This is America.
Let’s at least make America a place where we become a Child Advocate, call our representatives- this week has shown it makes a difference, and support bilingual immigration lawyers like @michaelavenatti -lawyers who are fighting hand and foot for justice. #keepfamiliestogetheract #helpseparatedchildrenact
