In honor of #WorldRefugeeDay, today’s #WCW is the vivacious and unstoppable Iman. @イマン・アブドゥルマジド is a Somalian exile who had to flee Somalia with her family as a result of a dangerous coup. “We left Somalia on foot, literally, from Somalia to Kenya,” she explained. We all know her as the world's first black supermodel, but there is so much more to this woman. She is the embodiment of brains and beauty combined! Her entrepreneurship and dedication to bringing health and education to her homeland is inspired.  And she has been a pioneer and advocate in the ethnic-cosmetics market. She is the founder of Iman Cosmetics which focuses on difficult-to-find shades for women, created Iman Global Chic; her clothing line for women of all shapes and sizes, has written two books, and debuted a Home collection. As if she didn’t have enough on her plate, her philanthropy work has garnered awards and recognition. She is active with The Children’s Defense Fund, Action Against Hunger and the Raise Hope For Congo campaign, that aims to build a permanent and diverse constituency of activists who advocate for protection and empowerment of Congolese women and girls. She also works with the Dr. Hawa Abdi Foundation in her native Somalia, to help provide medical attention, clean water and other basic necessities for people in need.
