There was a huge 6.1 earthquake this morning at 7:58am with its epicenter only 2km from Takatsuki, Osaka where I live.
I am safe.
I had to leave early this morning to go to Kyushu for Choreography, so I got on a Shinkansen for Kyushu at 7:12am, just 45 minutes before the earthquake.
I was in the Shinkansen when the earthquake hit, but I was already far away from Osaka by then so I didn’t feel anything.
When I started receiving messages from my friends, family and students asking if I was okay, that’s when I learned about the earthquake.
I’m still very shocked that this happened.
Trains have stopped, power is out, three deaths and many injured. There is a lot of damage in my city Takatsuki, so I can only wonder how my apartment is. I will find out this Thursday when I return.
I thank everyone who has reached out to check up on me. I hope everyone is okay and I pray there are no more earthquakes from now.
