new @chromeo album, Head Over Heels, out now !! as always, an amazing collection of songs from two of the smartest, funniest, music-obsessed people I know. It’s wild - I’ve known the Funk Lordz since 2002. I was a freshman at Columbia & went downtown to see the Streets play at Bowery Ballroom. Chromeo was opening. I’d never heard of them. In fact, it was their first ever show in New York. They made a huge impression on me & the next week, I see the singer walking out of Butler Library on campus (turned out Dave was getting his PhD in French literature.) I was legitimately starstruck. I took a deep breath & went over to introduce myself & say how much I liked Chromeo. We’ve been friends ever since. Life is crazy: a chance encounter with a grad student from Montreal led to me playing sax at Coachella ! Always show respect to grad students
