Yes, 1500 children are still missing. My work with immigrants is an every day thing. Yes the situation is complicated, but we must ultimately hold ICE accountable. ICE is responsible for creating the conditions that allow for 1500 to be unaccounted for, it is ICE that has terrorized family members who could take the children in but who might be undocumented or documented but still afraid of ICE, it is ICE that has sworn to prosecute mothers and fathers who’ve lived in this country for decades. It is ICE that has created an atmosphere of fear, suspicion and hate towards immigrants. EVEN IF ONE CHILD alone is unaccounted for and weather this child is hiding or not, it is ICE that has created that situation. ONE REFUGEE CHILD UNACCOUNTED FOR, NO MATTER THE REASON, IS ONE CHILD TOO MANY. Would you come forward if you knew that by doing so you might jeopardize your familia’s entire livelihood? If you knew you could be sent back to a placed we destroyed? Would you? NOBODY WOULD. So as long as ICE continues to carry out inhumane practices, as long as it continues to cultivate an atmosphere of hate, suspicion and fear around immigrants, ICE is responsible for their faith, ICE is responsible for putting children in the hands of human traffickers. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! .
