But you gave: births, weddings, art, music, words,
7 months of my friend at his best,
11 months when she could have had less.

eager to end the year that took,
but unwilling
because you were the last year that held Chester;
the last year that held my mother.
For that, I am not ready to move on.

with trepidation.
With hope.
