Meet @celiajacobs, an artist based in sunny Los Angeles sharing her work on Instagram. Her illustrations taken on an aesthetic that she describes as “very colorful and organic, full of strong shapes and hand-painted, with a big emphasis on drawing people.” Through her account she’s been able to travel and book jobs for her art, like recently when she was in NYC to design a mural for Tictail Market.

Her advice to always have patience. It may take a while to develop a strong point of view through your art, but she says that once you have something you’re passionate about then people will be on board with you.
Her inspirations come from the people and landscapes around her. For a “mental pick-me-up” she looks to other artists work: contemporary illustration, Japanese graphic design from the 60s and 70s, and folk art. Some of her favorite (female!) illustrators, friends, and inspirations are @amanda.berglund, @akvilemagicdust, @arieldavi.s, @avaloon, @bijoukarman, @itsjoeyyu, @janiceechang, @leilacourtillon, @lina__yu, @louisereimer, @mcmintea, @molly.fairhurst, and @sa.deng.
