I wake up today and a year ago on this day I celebrated a birthday. This year however I celebrate it OUT of a hospital. I’m so thankful to be healthy and happy today as I turn 40. God blessed me with a new lease on life. I knew when I was diagnosed with a brain tumor that it was a gift, the impetus for change. Not just for me but for many I believe who followed me. As I speak to people across the country I share my life’s pivot In hopes it will help them pivot as well. Sacrifice in life has to be done to a certain degree. It should never be at the expense of what’s most important to you and never at the cost of your health. I so believe that we all have gotten so caught up in this rat race to have more that we have ended up depleted, in strength and spirit. I know I was. This last year I’ve been healing physically from the brain surgery, but also emotionally and spiritually. I’ve also been helping others in their brain tumor journeys and it’s been a great blessing to do so. I’ve spent time - quality time - with my friends and family like I’ve never done before. I’ve abandoned email and have seriously decreased my cell phone use. I’ve become so much more pleasant for myself and others too. On my speaking tour I talk about how we’ve gone from human beings to human doings...well I’m back to being a human being and it feels amazing. My true self is being revealed, not the anxiety ridden, type A, workaholic, need to get the gold star at work stress bomb I was. I honestly wish this for everyone. Stillness and patience have been my best allies - teaching me so much - showing me so much. I’m so eternally grateful to everyone who has wished me well, prayed and loved me. Thank you...it’s helped so much. Today , one year later I know I not only survived, I thrived. God bless you all. Oh hi from @maximus_menounos
