This young girl attends a UNICEF-supported school in eastern Afghanistan. She’s one of the lucky ones. The mayhem caused by ongoing fighting, poverty, suicide bombing and discrimination against girls has barred 3.7 million children from school. The situation is particularly dire for girls. In some areas of Afghanistan, up to 85% of girls are out of school. @unicefafghanistan is committed to getting more children into the classroom.
