These are the swans that live in our creek. I know people say swans are mean, but we have peacefully co-existed for the past four years, by keeping a safe distance. They make our backyard infinitely more beautiful. I would say that they are “our swans,” except they could just as easily call us “their people” and have even more right to it since they lived here first. Every year, they have five babies but they usually don’t make it past a few weeks old. Except last year, two survived and are probably swimming in someone else’s creek claiming “their people” right about now. This year, all five seem to have survived so far and camped out on our lawn most of the weekend. We have our very own swan family!!! Or, as I said, they have us.
