Lava on the Big Island of Hawaii flowed from a fissure into the ocean on Monday, creating large plumes of laze, a dangerous mix of lava and haze, according to the United States Geological Survey. Since the Kilauea volcano erupted in early May, nearly 117 homes have been destroyed and thousands have been evacuated.
