“Be who you needed when you were younger” was written in Bree’s Instagram bio when we first met. I do my best to try to be that every day for the kids that I work with. Some of them are ten times more confident in who they are than I am, and they’re over ten years younger. They’re not afraid to be themselves, or show their true colors. They inspire me to be more open, show my own true colors, and own who I am. I often think, ‘If I were their age now would things have been different?’ Who knows. All I know is I’m happier and more confident now than I ever have been. Younger me would have no idea we’d ever get here! But I’d say, “Hang on, kiddo.
