Unless you pay careful attention to my t-shirts, you may not know that I’m a massive hip hop fan, and my pick for GOAT might be #BigL. He was born 8 days after me and would have been 44 today had he not been killed. Only 24, he had already recorded a staggering number of brilliant raps. I often wonder how my life would be different had he grown up in privilege in the suburbs of St. Louis like me, and I in Harlem. Almost like a cosmic mixup of swirling consciousnesses. There’s no answer, of course, but I try to stay grateful for where I landed, and it brings me comfort to know that, like him, I was born dead. #RIP
