My grandparents came to Canada in the 50s and built a life for themselves- bringing up their children, building their businesses and paying their taxes like all other Canadian citizens.
So when I learned about the immigration scandal surrounding the people of the ‘Windrush Generation’, who moved to the UK from the Caribbean in the 50s, I was completely shocked. I can only imagine how my family would feel if the government began to introduce immigration policies that made them feel like they didn’t have a right to be in Canada. ?
