The railroad tracks. We heard a guy in the bushes going off, yelling gutterally, to himself. He was talking in rhyme though. Nutty talk. Crazy talk. But rhyming all the while. We were walking to the railroad tracks in the small town where I’m from. Same railroad tracks I rode my dirt bike next to when I was a kid. Same railroad tracks I used to put quarters on when a train was coming then find the flattened remnant of afterward. Now, I’m with my wife, stopped, listening to this genius homeless dude rap out a rage that is frightening but an art all the same. I like the way we see it all lately.
