"This has been one of my favorite moves in surfing because of the angle, positioning, and precision needed to make it happen.
When you start the move you want to pop the lip and project along the lip line. As you get into the air, your front arm grabs the rail. This grab helps in holding your angle down the line and also gives you leverage to push your nose back down so you can land in the transition of the wave.
This is really important because if you go too vertical, it’s much harder to get back into the wave and will most likely land out the back or in a forward diving position. It’s all about following the lip line.
It’s important to stay centered once you're in the air and as you start to push your front arm down and find your landing, you want to let go of the rail and ideally land right in the transition. If done well, it will lead you right into a bottom turn and ready for your next move.
