The gleam of the golden hour from yesterday afternoon. We decided to go outside of our usual route and ended up venturing to a peculiar town with old buildings and found ourselves at a charming little dining establishment. It had shelves upon shelves of books and board games beckoning the curious. We stayed there for a good few hours letting the day roll off of us while we sat and enjoyed the window view of those mozying along the street in between our board games (we played the classic Sorry!) and me journaling for a bit. It was so ordinary, unfussed and laid back. And it was absolutely divine. When the present and nostalgia are somehow wrapped in one. It reminded me of my dad’s famous question, “what was your favorite part about today?” It’s by far these kind of moments. Not the extravagant or the extreme. But rather the humble and mundane ones that are touched by wonder. When we left and strolled along the streets back to the car, I saw the sunlight dancing through the leaves and I knew that that was my dad smiling and waving at us. His very essence was so palpable it was as if he were right there. And in fact he was. ?
