#OTD in 1819 Queen Victoria was born at Kensington Palace.

The only child of The Duke and Duchess of Kent, Princess Victoria became Queen in 1837 and reigned until her death in 1901.

On her 18th birthday in 1837, Princess Victoria describes her day in her Journal, unaware that just a month later should become Queen following the death of her uncle, King William IV: "Today is my 18th birthday. How old I am, & yet how far from being what I should be.

I shall from this day take the firm resolution to study with renewed assiduity & always to keep my attention well fixed on whatever I am about, & to strive every day to become more fit for what, if Heaven wills it, I am some day to be!..." ? @royal_collection_trust
