Why is this reality confusing? Germany is Greece's main creditor for debts owed to the EU. Greece has asked for more lenient terms to the repayment schedule but Germany has enforced the terms irrevocably. However Greece's entire EU debt could be settled if Germany were to pay Greece the current €279 billion it owes on debt accumulating since WW2. In 1990 Germany settled its WW2 debts with Britain, USA, France & Russia but ignored Greece completely. When Greek Deputy Finance Minister Dimitris Mardas declared the figure Germany owed Greece, the Greek Supreme Court ruled that German assets within Greece should be seized. International courts then opposed this ruling & Greece has been left waning. Why aren't the people ethically arguing that Greece must face its financial debts not arguing the same of Germany's debt owed to Greece. I am investigating this because 700 New Zealand soldiers died in the battle of Crete alone & would feel their legacy abandoned by this situation in knowing the democratic Greek people they fought alongside & gave their lives for, are now, again, under the heel of oppression.
