Paramedics assist a man who was injured in the chest and arms by Israeli troops along the #Gaza border on May 14. Tens of thousands of residents of Gaza amassed near the border with Israel on Monday, 70 years to the day after #Israel declared its independence, in the hopes of pushing to break through into Israel at the culmination of a weeks-long protest called the "March of Return." Of 97 dead and more than 3,400 wounded since late March, most were cut down on May 14: by nightfall on May 14, the day’s fatalities totaled 55, with 2,700 injured.
