"The set up for this turn is really important, you’ll see from the takeoff, I do a small pump in the middle of the wave right before dropping down for the bottom turn. This pump happens because you want to gauge where you’re going to do your turn.

You want to be bottom turning around the lip line to put yourself in the corner pocket of the wave where it’s steep. The front arm guiding the bottom with the back arm following and the back leg bent more than the front. As you get to the top of the wave, you pull your front arm down and push your back leg out at the same time. This gets you underneath your board and creates the release for the tail as your weight pushes forward.

As the board starts to slide, you’ll find yourself wanting to do something to readjust but the best thing to do is stay still and centered allowing the board to re-correct itself. If you’re centered when the fins engage again, you will have a much better chance at making the move.
To be clear, I personally call this a Release because you’re not actually kicking the tail out the back but you are disengaging the fins for a moment to create that slide effect." - @shanebeschen
