Love is a gift.
Letting it flow is the main purpose of life itself. Once again, I have a debt with life, because I’ve received more than I gave.
Returning from Sarnano with a heart full of gratitude, I bring with me the smiles of the children, together with the enthusiasm, the stories, the hopes, the strength and the beauty of the people. Thanks to this adventure of solidarity, I met many women and men of good will, who showed me their true and powerful affection.
The new school built by the Andrea Bocelli Foundation and my friend Renzo Rosso in the village destroyed by the earthquake truly expresses this flow. The energy that grows our children’s dreams, the love that springs from learning, awareness, values and chances, and which echoes in the whole community.
After the inauguration and the ribbon-cutting, I left Sarnano feeling the same joy and excitement of a child on Christmas day, when he’s overwhelmed by so many presents and benevolent attention. And while the bell goes back to ringing and children are filling the classrooms, I don’t want to forget that I’m a student too. Always ready to learn and better myself, treasuring the unexpected gifts of life, as that day in Sarnano.
My commitment and the promise I renew from now is to let it flow, that gift I have so undeservingly received.
