@jtholmesjr taking the fall for the team...This was the last shot from a wild shoot I was asked to put together and help direct in Baffin a few years ago. I still reference it often when I think of a group of misfits stepping up big and delivering when things don't go as planned. (@jtholmesjr's story below tells it well.) It was my first big trip with JT and Dirk. Sometimes you learn more about a person in a few high stakes days than you would learn about someone over the course of many years. I came away knowing I had a crew I could trust and happily go to the ends of the earth with anytime. And as for the shot....I’ll just say @jtholmes and @dirkcollins work well under pressure....

Falling. It's fun. This shot is from one of the most memorable trips of my career. This was the place of my late best friend Shane's 1999 dream trip with @redbullairforce prior to ours and it was a trip that I was sharing with my subsequent best friend @timydutton. Tim's presence not only made for special times with my favorite wingman but the money we earned facilitated Tim to live his dream as a pro athlete, reach goals and enjoy more trips, which with his passing, became fewer than planned. We stuck the snot out of the job through remarkable teamwork. The plan was to have a gluttonous experience of heli assisted crew moves and massive BASE jumps. Unfortunately, the helicopter never reached us due to weather. So what was supposed to be a trip of 50 or so mountain descents (skiing, ski base, BASE jumping) turned into a trip of just 6 runs/ jumps. Every shot counted. Any botched camera work would mean we were done. Same went for the athletes. Flail the athletic performance and the whole shoot was over. Only as strong as our weakest link, it was clutch we did not have one.
We rose to the occasion partly due to pride of delivering a great product for the commercial which was the task at hand but mostly because Baffin is inspirational. I stepped off, relaxed, shared a moment of thru-lens eye contact with Dirk, rolled over and hurried my way away from the wall. Fun. So damn fun.
