I never wanted to be an actor. Never growing up did I think I'd be pretending to be someone else for a living. It was more through circumstance, not desire. I've always questioned the legitimacy of my chosen career. Is it what a "man" should do? I used to think not. It never felt organic or true.........Four years ago that changed, I made peace with it. I felt proud. Not for the plaudits. Not for the adulation. Not for the fake love. Not for the success. Not for all the narcissistic bullshit that comes with my industry. No. .......For this reason only. A young man who served in #iraq came to me at some party I was at. He shook my hand and thanked me. The moment was raw. Very emotional. How can a man who puts his life in front of mine be thanking me. He told me his and his troops favorite show was @prisonbreak. They would make a pact that if all of them came back alive from patrol they would all sit and watch #prisonbreak. If they lost a man. He and he's unit wouldn't watch PB for a month. I've never forgotten that young mans words, he said. "Prison break made shit a bit easier for us". I made peace with my #craft in that moment. The pic above; me wearing a uniform pretending to be a soldier; made me very uncomfortable. I reconciled that feeling with that young soldiers words..........
