Cannot say enough good things about this book – particularly the audio version. Vivid, evocative, funny – everything I want in an oral history. Doe tells the story of X but also lets @janewiedlin, @princessofhollywood and others have their say about the scene that birthed them. I’m struck by how theatrical and inclusive the punk scene was in LA - by the time I got into punk rock in New York, it was all straight edge hard-core, which had its charms, but was ultimately a little too jock rock for me. Stunning recollections all around. Thanks for the rec, @wilw.
