Pine tree needles come often in clusters or 5, but this “holy tree” gives them in clusters of 3. We were observing (for quite some time) how this old man “fished” needles to give it to passengers and shared them explanation. (It was nice to observe the surprised reactions of the people). In such moments I wished my Japanese was better so I could have also enjoyed the stories of locals. #treestories #dryads #sacredtrees #visitwakayama #treelovers #koyasan
