Throughout its history it has undergone different changes and stories. Perhaps the most striking is the one explained in the travel book ‘Seyahatname’ by historian and traveler Evliya Çelebi. Around 1630, Herzârfen Ahmed Çelebi managed to fly from the tower to the Asian part of Istanbul with artificial wings. Nowadays it is one of the places with the best views of the city.
