You’ll never guess what I did in YOGA that changed my body! ?? I’ll be honest, I dropped a whole dress size. I was practicing anywhere up to 5-6 times per week of level 2/3 Vinyasa yoga at 45 min sessions. I was addicted to everything about yoga—the lifestyle, the practice, the highs it gave me and how it ultimately changed my body and the way I looked at life. After just 1 year, I went on to become a certified yoga instructor through @activeyogi yoga teacher training. It was the best thing I’d ever done. Not because I wanted to teach, but because I CRAVED that feeling and more of the yoga lifestyle. It came to the point where every time I practiced yoga, all it would take would be the first five minutes into class to feel that ‘high’. The more challenging the class the better, and I’m talking about longer holds, more advanced variations and 2kg HAND WEIGHTS pushing myself at every chance I had—yes you read right, hand weights! It was only twice per week that I’d use hand weights, but boy did it add an extra dimension to my practice. And little did I realise that my body was changing the whole time. You see, Vinyasa is a beautiful practice based on flowing movements and breath. The breath work calms and the constant flow from one asana to the next keeps the heart rate high (I don’t think there’s ever been a time where my body wasn’t dripping in sweat). Then to mix with hand weights means that my core and muscles had to work harder to ‘balance’ my body in each pose. Try it next time and you’ll see what I mean when you add hand weights to your yoga. I’ll admit nowadays, I don’t practice as much and as such my figure isn’t quite the same as this pic ? (must get back into it), but to know that all it took was 45 min per day and 5 days per week for a longer, leaner and stronger body. So, cheers to yoga!
