hi guys! Happy monday! I’m so excited to be back with my @Aerie family & share the #AerieREAL love! Sorry for the long caption but this is part of my story, so if you have a minute please read and share your story with me #AeriePartner
I was first cast for @Aerie in 2011. I remember meeting John Urbano when I flew in to NYC for the first casting. At the time I was 20 years old living in Miami and wasn’t quite ready to settle into the big bad city.
I stopped working for Aerie around 2014. Shortly there after they launched their first #AerieReal campaign, doing “real girls” no retouching. I’d drive by their billboards & see someone else in my place, but always with a smile on my face cheering them on, knowing in my gut THIS powerful move from such a large company was going to make a difference.
When I was asked to rejoin the Aerie family this year I screamed YES. It’s 4 years later and I’m back, with a different body and a new mindset. It was terrifying to put myself with the same brand that I used to do 20 pounds lighter, but I want to be a part of the movement that Aerie had created; to remind women out there that no matter what size you are or were that you ARE beautiful.
What people saw in previous Aerie campaign 4 years ago was me, but it was an insecure young girl trying to find her way. Aerie never criticized me back then, nor do they criticize me now. They embrace YOU, and I love that so much. I wish more brands would do NO retouching because it really creates a false sense of reality that I always felt pressured to live by. I know now this is unrealistic and unhealthy.
Im so proud, happy and truthfully slightly nervous to show you all the new images from my recent Aerie shoot.
What you’re seeing now is different from before. I’ve been through a lot in the last 4 years and have grown mentally and physically. I’m happier more now than ever because I know what’s most important, and that is to be real and to be you.
