This photo is from 2000 when I was in Washington D.C. doing some art on a building (with permission!) with @ronenglishart and @arecolman. The police showed up and told us to stop working and stand against the wall. The building owner was called, acknowledged permission, and yet the police still didn’t want to let us proceed, citing potential ordinance violations. The cops combed the books looking for excuses to halt our work, but eventually gave up and began to leave, giving me the opportunity to snap a quick pic in front of one of their cars. Serve and protect!
