“ ❤️ 4 years ago, I got Oak from an AKC breeder when he was just 2 1/2 months old. He was the only black Pomeranian in a sea of sable Poms. A rambunctious, chubby, ball of fluff, I knew he was the one for me. 2 weeks later, I found myself in a hospital, dealing with a severe Lupus flare, the first in 12 years. What absurd timing. I remember feeling so scared and worried that I wouldn’t be able to take care of him while I was sick. Now looking back, I realize just how much this little smoosh actually took care of me. Having a puppy comes with so many responsibilities, and Oak gave me the energy when I physically didn’t think I had it. But beyond the daily tasks of being a dog owner, Oak and I formed a unique and emotional bond almost immediately. There is just something special about him.. I know all pet owners say that, but even as a puppy, Oak knew I was there for him and he was meant to be there for me. He has licked my tears when I’ve cried, has slept right beside me when I needed love the most and has made me laugh at my lowest points. More importantly, my happiest moments have been with Oak. From our walks to playing in the park, to trips to Denver, LA, DC, Ohio.. Oak has been by my side through it all. Anyone who knows Oak knows that he is such a warm soul. He loves to be loved..He will lick anyone’s face for hours (if you let him), loves to be cradled like a baby and will insist that you pick him up when he just wants a hug. Oak is also incredibly charming. He will leave me at the drop of a dime to go sit and longingly stare at strangers if they have food.. and will crawl into your lap if that didn’t work. When he just needs a good belly rub, he will lightly paw at your arm.. and will paw some more if you stop. I just can’t believe he’s already 4 today! I am still finding it difficult to articulate just how much Oak means to me. How do I put into words how much this 8 pound, little nugget has changed my life? My dear Oak, simply put, I love you buddy. Thank you for being such a good boy and being my best friend.
