This year, Mazzy’s been trying on attitudes and personalities and styles and I’ve been watching her like— oh how cute. She’s trying to be cool. Over the past few weeks, I felt a shift. I don’t know if it’s a shift in her or in my perception of her, but now I see it clearly. In the way she talks, in the way she puts herself out there to make friends, in her excitement to have new experiences, in her messy hair and her jean shorts and her insistence that I stop using the word perfect because “Nothing is perfect, Mom!” I might not always like her attitude or understand her fashion choices, but Mazzy isn’t just trying to be cool. She IS cool. I’m not sure which parts have to do with me or are in spite of me, but I happen to be raising one cool kid. Although, thankfully, not quite cool enough to know that her mom writing about her being cool is about as UNCOOL as it gets ??#lifewithdaughters #thebigkidyears #thisis8
