Meet Monica Sordo, one of our remarkable participants in #LAFS2018 . Monica was born and raised in Caracas Venezuela where she spent her childhood alongside her father in his industrial design workshop. He played a fundamental role as a constant mentor and guide, and continues to influence her work by advising her in the manufacturing process. She left to study Fashion Stylist at Istituto Marangoni in Milan, Fashion Merchandising at Istituto Europeo di Design in Madrid and Jewelry Design at the GIA in New York. Monica has worked as a Fashion Editor for Marie Claire Spain and held a position in public relations for Christian Louboutin. All these experiences came to shape the creation of her signature jewelry. Additionally, she has gained international recognition through her work as curator for Bodega MATE, the Mario Testino museum store in Lima Peru. She is a CFDA member and has received accolades in all the top fashion books including the Vogue IT “Talents Issue”, as well as Vogue LATAM, Vogue US, W Magazine, Harper’s Bazaar and WWD.
