5-year-old Baraka smiles outside his home in South Sudan where he lives with his mother and two siblings. In South Sudan, only around 10% of the population has access to safe water. Many of the water points have been severely damaged or destroyed in conflict; others have fallen into disrepair. Many people are forced to rely on dirty or contaminated water, which can cause deadly diseases and lead to widespread malnutrition. Together with partners, we’re working to provide clean water to 755,000 people through water trucking, drilling and rehabilitation of water points, installation of solar-operated pumps, surface water treatment centres and household water purifiers. © UNICEF/UN0159460/Meyer
