Red Bull Der Lange Weg started two and a half weeks ago in Vienna, Austria. The athletes have pushed hard day after day and made it through white-outs, avalanche terrain and huge amounts of vertical - and made it to Italy.
"On day 10 we climbed 13,700' over 30 miles. That's crazy. Then the next day we did it again, and again and again and again," says Mark Smiley.
The conditions have been variable to say the least.
"We are in a spring cycle right now so there is powder one day and breakable crust the next. Everything is "adventurous" while skiing on skis that are only 65mm wide and 164cm long. But we are covering a ton of ground which is pretty cool!"
