SOS! Many of you are sending me this Facebook post and if I reach out to this person in Idaho privately they will probably do what they all do and tell me to mind my own business.
So PLEASE get the message to her that all she has to do is get sturdy scratchers and train her to use them and re-direct the scratching behavior with deterrents like feliway!!!!
This poor kitty just needs the proper scratchers and he shouldn't have his toe bones amputated!
The two vet hospitals mentioned in Idaho, Mountain River Veterinary Hospital and Alpine Animal Hospital, both use lasers to burn off the cat's toe bones and they say that there are no long term negative consequences to a cat's health and well-being. Alpine AH says that they prefer to do the declaw with the spay/neuter and that they never take off the cat's toes, just the claws and the joint.They charge $225 and say all their 5 vets do declaws regularly. Mountain River Veterinary Hospital charges $132 and they say that the cat just might have sore paws for 6-8 weeks.
We MUST educate this cat owner about the awful truth about doing this feline paw mutilation to her kitty and harming his long term health and well-being!
