Guys. This is my new pal Tom @off_leash_life. Tom’s a #veteran, a #dad, and a wildly impressive, very intuitive #dogtrainer. If you’re an animal owner, you have to check him out — follow him for sure! — and if you need help with your pups in SoCal, you’re welcome!

For the last 12 days, Tom and I have been on text constantly, and he’s been sending me pictures and videos of my babies Penny and Griffin.

They’ve always been such good dogs, but there were some areas where I wanted them to be better, for their own well-being. Counter to what people (mistakenly) believe about pitties, these two are too friendly for their own good. They often get so excited when they see other dogs, and want to play so badly, that they completely stop obeying commands, run over to the other pups, and wind up getting bitten. They constantly sneak onto the furniture when they think I’m not looking. And they bark like psychos every time the phone rings. Don’t even get me started on the way they act behind the front door. Insanity. Tom has changed everything. He taught both the dogs AND me (and Jenny and Vanessa) so much. How to better understand one another, communication strategies we never knew, and he has the patience (former Marine aye!) to have had the dogs working on repetitive skills day in and day out.
