Bunny Yeager was a popular pinup girl in the 1950s who stepped behind the camera, working to turn erotic photographs into high art. She shot eight centerfolds for Playboy (helping to discover some of the Playmates), but her greatest muse was the incredible Bettie Page, whom Yeager photographed a thousand times. Hallmarks of Yeager’s work included models in bikinis—before that was the norm—as well as photographing women outside, with expressions of confidence instead of looking demure. Yeager flipped the script on sexually charged images, with photos that celebrated women, apart from the male gaze.
