I have not explained the gun debate or gun violence in schools to my children yet. They are 8 and 5 and it feels too young to me, although I know they do lockdown drills at school. I asked Mazzy what the lockdown drills were for the other day and she said, “For if someone breaks into the school. Like a robber.” I was relieved to hear that answer but the innocence also broke my heart. I know I will have to explain soon. Thank you to all the students marching today. For yourselves, for the older generations that haven’t been able to get it right and for the younger generations still blissfully unaware. You will change the world. If not today, than one day soon. My kids and my kids’ kids will be reading about you in their history books. As a parent, I am forever grateful to you all. #marchforourlives
