“Mimic”: Guillermo Del Toro’s first American film, twenty-three years ago. It was a hard film: people almost getting fired, artists not being trusted, actors almost being replaced. I’d hang out in Guillermo’s trailer and he’d show me his journals all filled with the most elaborate drawings of ideas, monsters and dreams. He also turned me on to a great book called “The Monk” by Matthew Gregory Lewis, a book written 200 years ago. What an amazing inspiration, this dreamer. His recent film “The Shape of Water” blew my mind with its heart, it’s imagination, it’s humanity. Congratulations, buddy. #therealcreatives #thethreeamigos
