Last night's "Watts Next: Design Challenges of the Electric Car" featured auto design heads Michael Simcoe, (General Motors), Grant Larson (Porsche), Alfonso Albaisa (Nissan), Moray Callum (VP Design Ford Motor), and Ian Callum (Design Director at Jaguar) discussing the new opportunities permitted by EV powertrains. Many parallels to moment when the computing industry realized the future wasn't desktops, but mobile...an entire paradigm shift of user experience and expectations. The older car enthusiast contingency in attendance unsurprisingly voiced skepticism (aka Prius argument), and we're unsure whether the progressive arm of the auto industry - design - allayed their fears.
