Before I left to come up to work in Canada, Zoie was looking at the calendar. She said, “Oh mama! March 8th is gonna be a great day!” When I asked her why, she said, “It’s International Women’s Day! It’s a day where we can celebrate being girls and kicking butt!” I could not have been more proud. My only hope is that I raise these two girls into women who will stand up for themselves and for others, who will question the world around them, who will be leaders in ways big and small, who will always celebrate themselves and who invite people into their lives that celebrate them too.
