Dani DiPirro (@positivelypresent) is an illustrator from Bethesda, MD who fills her Instagram with quotes and art that she describes as “colorful optimism.” She’s gained her following by staying true and authentic to her message, while still allowing herself to experiment with different styles, which she says helped her to develop a distinct aesthetic.
Her inspiration comes directly from her mom (who she says is where she gets her optimism from), as well as her dog, Barkley (@barkleythemorkie). She also likes to draw “what feels right,” which often takes the form of the clouds and stars around her. Otherwise, she checks out some of her favorite accounts like @madevibrant, @adamjk, @space.ram, @demiiwhiffin, and @marcjohnart.

Dani says that people might be surprised to find out she struggles with staying present and positive all the time, but that just makes her all the more relatable. Her goal with her writing and drawing is to “combine words and colors into something that makes the world just a bit brighter.” She wants to inspire others with her art, but she also uses it to inspire herself to stay strong and optimistic (she will be 8 years sober this summer!).
