Last Song Made: “Ain’t Sayin Nothin New” (The Source’s #KimOsario said “make a new song from scratch” we did...we liked it)

Last Interlude Made (tie): “Act Won (TFA)” & The “w/o A Doubt Rollcall” while mastering I asked the late #TomCoyne why was a VCR/tv set up in studio, he said it belonged to Wu Tang who never took it home after they watched (& most importantly) acted out #TheKiller movie THREE TIMES picked dialogue for Rae’s #OnlyBuiltForCubanLinx (took em 37 hours—-I make him tell me and everyone in the room w me this story to hilarious results) in my overnight bag I had a copy of #MoBetaBlues & winged my all time fav Roots album intro. The w/o rollcall was me holding out for #SchoolyD to drop a verse (he never showed up) so my demo stayed on the album.

Mastered on: Sept 29th 1998- got up 6am & drove to NYC w @scratch215 & @djadambombmusic to shoot @sheendawgydawg’s @xxl’s #GreatDayInHipHop w #GordonParks. all day everyone was buzzing about #HardKnockLifeVol2 #Aquemini & #TheLoveMovement all released that morn (in my head i was like “man I better sequence the SHIT outta this record cause I want them to talk & buzz about our record the same way. Which put me in “surgery time” (speeding up/editing parts out/segue songs like a DJ in rhythm—something I stole from Stevie Wonder)

OriginalPlan: 5 album covers w various hidden Easter eggs.

Actual Plan: 2 versions of TFA (the clean version has different interludes and a @richmedina poem instead of @urucker)

Song that used to be: i took the reel for D’angleo’s original rejected “Player Player” for Space Jams soundtrack & kept the drums in tact and remade #TheSpark

Also: on my youtube page the “damn #PInfinite clip” contains the #JDilla joint that didn’t make the album (an extremely slowed down #TheMeaningOfLove from #SteveKhun)

Tariq didn’t like: “Act Two” nor “Double Trouble” at first: @djcosmickev said we were buggin if we didn’t use that beat and Common who was recording “Chocolate” lp agreed. So he wrote verse 1st. Mos snuck unknown (to us) Kweli on OG “Trouble”—we shoulda kept him on ha!
