Today would’ve been my beloved Nanny’s 90th Birthday. When I was 12, we were celebrating my uncles graduation from the Naval Academy and she slipped into a coma after suffering a stroke at our home. It was the single most life altering event to occur in my life and changed the course of our lives in a very big way. Even though I only had 12 years with her, the memories are still crystal clear. I can still smell the oranges we would pick in her yard and make fresh juice. I can still remember her voice saying “run Melissa” when we were standing on a bridge looking for alligators when she scooped up @trishalhart to run back to the house and jump in the pool to get the fire ants off of them both. I remember her helping me get the bird poop out of my hair at DisneyWorld. And I remember her and my Papa returning from trips around the globe with foreign keepsakes for us which planted the travel bug in me. We miss you everyday and love you Nanny! Happy Birthday! ?
